Biosketch: Dr Ata Akin received his Ph.D. on Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University in 1998. Since then he has been a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering in Drexel University. Dr Akin’s research interests are in the fields of biomedical optics and biomedical information technology. In the field of biomedical optics, he designs and develops medical instruments to detect breast cancer and monitor the brain activity by using laser sources. In the field of biomedical information technology, he develops algorithms and techniques in extracting and classifying the signals and images obtained from the body.
