Launch Virtual BIOMED

Getting Started in Second Life Video Tutorial
Note: For those who already have a Second Life account please proceed to Step VIII

Step I

Via a web browser, navigate to http://www.secondlife.com

Step II

On the main page in the upper right-hand corner there is an option to "Join"
Click on this link to proceed

Step III

Choose a First Name and select a Last Name from a list of presets
Provide your Date of Birth
Provide your Email Address

Step IV

Select an Avatar (Chose from a list of Presets)

Step V

Provide your Real Name, Gender, & Native Country
Choose a Password for your Account
Register for Second Life News & Updates (Optional)
Enter Security Code (Provided)
Agree to the Terms of Service

Step VI

Option to Upgrade to a Premium Account (Skip this step)
Conformation Email sent to Email Address provided
Follow instructions in this Email to activate your account

Step VII

Download & Install Second Life Software
After Installation is complete, Run the Second Life Client
Log in with your Username (Second Life First Name & Last Name) and Password
You will be teleported to Orientation Island, where there are free tutorials on how to control your Avatar in
Second Life (Flying, Running, Interacting with people & objects, etc.)

Note: For those who already have a Second Life account, proceed here:

Step VIII

Accessing Drexel Island / Second Biomed
Close the Second Life Program
Via a Web Browser type in this URL: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Drexel/125/175/25
On the Page that loads, there is a "Teleport Now" button
Click on this button to proceed
Second Life will automatically Start Up
Log-in with your Username & Password Once again. This time you will be teleported to Drexel Island
Second Biomed is located in the Main Tower on the Island, 13th Floor
There are two ways to access Second BIOMED

Click on the BIOMED Logo to teleport to the 13th Floor (Recommended)

The logo is in the shape of a diamond and can be found right where you first enter Drexel Island
Right click on the logo and chose teleport

Fly up to the 13th manually (Advanced Users)

To enter Flight Mode, press "F" on your Keyboard
To ascend, while in Flight Mode, press "Page Up" on your keyboard
To descend, while in Flight Mode, press "Page Down" on your keyboard
Utilize the arrow keys to move forward and backward and to look left and right

The 13th Floor is marked with the Biomed Logo on the outside wall
Fly into the room via the Balcony opening
