Lab Overview
The BioNanoSensor Research Laboratory (BRL) at Drexel has well-equipped
testing and technological facilities for the study and development of solid
state acoustic and thin film sensors as well preparation of biological samples.
The (BRL) facilities is used to calibrate and test piezoelectric, optical
and piezoresitive transducers over a broad range of sensor operating conditions.
Also, the BRL facilities will be used for preparation, immobilization, and
characterization of biofunctionalized surfaces and biological interfacial
systems.
List of Available Major Equipment
The BioNanoSensor Research Laboratory (BRL) is located in Nesbit Hall ,
Rooms 506 and 507. It has very well-equipped testing and technological facilities
for the study and development of solid state acoustic, thin film sensors
and biological samples. In particular, the microfabrication facilities,
the electronic characterization instrumentation, and the material analysis
measurement systems will be available for research. Specifically, the BL
includes: Crystal and Material Preparation Facilities, Thin Film Deposition
Technology Equipment, Surface and Thin Film Characterization Instrumentation,
Piezoelectric Transducer Fabrication Equipment, Acoustic and Dielectric
Spectroscopy Measurement Systems: and Microsensor Electronic Measurement
Testing Systems. |

Vector Volt Meter: HP 8508A Agilent |
| Brief Description of Capability: |
The 8508A vector voltmeter is a fully automatic tuned receiver that makes
RF voltage and phase measurements easy. Its narrowband measuring technique
gives a dynamic range of over 90 dB and a sensitivity of 10 µV to
trace even the smallest signal. This vector voltmeter also measures the
phase difference between its two input channels with at least 0.1° resolution
over a full +180 to -180° range, so they can be used for another complete
set of measurements - such as electrical length, phase distortion, or impedance. |
