On behalf of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, I am pleased to welcome you to the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems web site and wish you an informative and pleasant visit.

The merging of physical and computational sciences, engineering, and technology with life sciences and medicine is defining the brave new era of biomedical engineering, science, and health systems. The bio-enterprise is poised to lay the foundations of the emerging bio-based industries of the next millennium. Drexel University in general, and our School in particular, is responding to the challenge by launching research initiatives in strategic thrust areas and by forming synergistic alliances with partner institutions and industry. In keeping with Drexel's focus on technology, its traditional strengths in engineering, and emphasis on experiential learning, we are offering innovative academic programs and continuously upgrading our existing curricula to educate the next-generation of biomedical engineers, biomedical scientists, and health systems professionals.

I hope that our site will convey to you the excitement of our faculty and students as we mount new research initiatives, forge regional and multi-institutional alliances, build on our core competencies, and leverage the complementary strengths of our partners. I am confident that our deep commitment to unique, innovative, and forward-thinking academic programs will also be reflected on our web site. We strive to keep our students abreast of the progress in biomedical engineering, science, and health systems and take pride in their many achievements.
