Competition materials are now available for undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships with competitive stipends and tuition allowances offered for study beginning in Fall 2004. Apply now and be part of a new and exciting education program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
These awards are intended for students interested in pursuing the basic science and technology innovations that can be applied to the DHS mission. DHS realizes that the country's strong science and technology community provides a critical advantage in the development and implementation of counter-terrorist measures. This education program is intended to ensure a diverse and highly talented science and technology community to achieve the DHS mission and objectives. Areas of study include: physical, biological, social and behavioral sciences including science policy, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.
The DHS Scholars and Fellows are supported by the Office of Research and Development (ORD) within the Science and Technology Directorate. The Science and Technology Directorate supports research, development, testing and evaluation programs in a wide array of areas related to homeland security.

engineering and science disciplines, such as:
- Biosensors and Bioimaging
- Cellular Tissue Engineering
- Neuroengineering and Sciences
- Cardiovascular Engineering and Sciences
- Rehabilitation Engineering and Sciences
Students with outstanding academic records may qualify for financial support,
