Mr. Mihir Shah, a Drexel alumni (B.S. Computer Engineering, Class of 2000), founded United Electronics (UE) Inc. a year after his graduation. UE is a technology transfer company whose mission is to commercialize and globalize application specific, next generation technologies to increase customer profitability and productivity through harmonious diversification of business and technology. Mihir Shah was the recipient of the Business Plan Competition Award sponsored by the Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship in Technology in June, 2001.
As a resident of the Baiada Center since 2002, Mihir has enabled a Drexel-born medical technology (IQ) to reach patients in India who needed non-invasive hemodynamic treatment. IQ is a breakthrough solution to an expensive and highly invasive procedure known as Pulmonary Artery Catheterization (PAC). Mihir was interviewed by Innovation Philadelphia in its spring and summer 2004 issues, as well as for a recent Innovation Philadelphia online article titled Making a Difference, and Money. Commenting on his experience and association with the Drexel Bio-Med team, Mihir declares, "My grandfather always wanted me to be a doctor and save lives. I guess this is as close as I shall ever get to it!"
