accomplishments, you can make the most of your Drexel degree with our Fast-Track
Options. These include our special Honors Program, and opportunties for accelerated
studies, dual degrees, and combined bachelor's/master's programs. If you are planning
to continue your studies in medical school, law school, or another professional or

Entrance Requirements
Applicants to Drexel University are expected to have completed the high school curriculum that will best prepare
them for freshmen-year studies in their academic field of choice. If you are applying to the School of Biomedical
Engineering, Science and Health Systems the prerequisites are four years of mathematics (algebra I and II, geometry,
trigonometry) and two years of laboratory science (biology, chemistry, or physics). An interview, mid-year grades,
and/or additional testing may be requested at the discretion of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Decisions
are made without respect to need for financial aid.
Drexel operates on a rolling admissions basis, which means that each applicant will be notified about the admission
decision as soon as possible after the applicant's file becomes complete. A complete file consists of the student's
application, SAT or ACT scores, high school transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.

Financial Aid
You have made up your mind to apply--you're qualified and you are interested
in Drexel. Now it's all a question of money. Drexel 's Office of Financial
Aid will do everything possible to make your education here affordable for
you and your family. More than eighty percent of Drexel undergraduate students
receive some form of financial aid, with yearly awards totaling $42 million.
The aid may be in the form of an academic merit scholarship, a Drexel grant,
work-study employment, or any combination of the above. Freshmen and transfer students may apply
for the A. J. Drexel Scholarship which is an achievement-based
award with a renewable value of up to $8,000 per year. Drexel participates
in all major state and federal aid programs, and strongly encourages students
to apply for University scholarships, our more than 120 endowed scholarships,
and work-study awards. If you are interested in taking advantage of one or more of the web sites
that offer a free computerized scholarship search, click here.
Drexel also offers something most colleges and universities can't--co-op
salaries and they can make a difference (salaries for six-month paying
internships vary by major, but average in the $9,000-$12,000 range). Many
Drexel families apply this money toward the cost of tuition, books, and
living expenses.

Programs
The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems offers
M.S. degrees and Ph.D. degrees
in Biomedical Engineering and Biomedical Science.
Entrance Requirements
Acceptance for graduate study at Drexel Biomed requires a four-year bachelor's
degree from an accredited institution in the United States or equivalent
international institution. Regular acceptance requires a minimal cumulative
grade point average of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale for the last two years of
undergraduate work, and for any graduate level work undertaken. Applicants
for post-master's status must show potential for further study by having
maintained a 3.5 average in their master's-level studies.
Drexel Biomed practices a Rolling Admissions policy--students are able
to apply at any term during the year, but students are encouraged to
matriculate in the Fall to ensure proper sequence of coursework.
Drexel Biomed normally requires a TOEFL score of at least 550. Verbal,
analytical, and quantitative scores on the GRE General Test are recommended
for admission and required for assistantship consideration.
In addition to the requirements of Drexel Biomed, students must satisfy
the requirements of the Office of Research and Graduate Studies
in matters such as academic standing,
thesis, examinations, and time limits.
Financial Aid
Financial support for qualified students pursuing studies toward the
M.S. and Ph.D. degrees is available in the form of research assistantships,
teaching assistantships, and fellowships.
Calhoun Fellowships are supported by the School's Calhoun Endowment.
To be considered for a fellowship, students must submit GRE scores along
with all their application materials. The application deadline is February
28 for the following academic year. Applicants will be notified by April
30 each year. For more information, please contact Dr. William Freedman.
Dean's Fellowships are available for outstanding applicants to the School
when other forms of financial assistance are not available. This Fellowship
provides 40% of a student's tuition (excluding the general fee) for the
first term and is renewable depending on the student's academic performance.
A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required for continued support. To be considered
for this Fellowship applicants must be seeking full-time study only at either
the master's or Ph.D. level and may not receive any other form of
assistantship or fellowship from the University. Other requirements include
a GPA of 3.5 or better in their bachelor's program and submission of GRE scores. For international
students, a TOEFL score of 600 or better is required.
For further assistance, students should contact the Office of Graduate
Admissions.
All applicants who answer "yes" to question 9 on the graduate
application will automatically be considered for departmental assistantships.
There is no additional paperwork to apply. Applicants interested in graduate
assistantships must submit GRE scores since these awards are based on academic
merit.
