CORE AREAS

The new Biomedical Core Areas address the need for adequate, multidisciplinary and flexible programs such that the students are well trained and highly motivated to continue their 'life-long' educational process. The uniqueness of the program is provided by closely linking the solid biomedical engineering and science foundation with sound clinical and social components. In addition, students typically lack appropriate 'industrial' exposure. The proposed curricula provides strong practical background through carefully designed laboratories. Concurrently, they allow students to be immersed in the clinical environment and interact directly with clinical and industrial personnel. In this way, the students will gain hands-on experience to understand better the needs of patients, to bridge the communication gap between engineers and physicians and to identify the existing and future challenges in health care delivery, medical devices and systems and bio-pharmaceutical industry, and regulatory governmental agencies.

The proposed curriculum is composed of two core areas, namely;

The time schedule for course development and delivery is summarized in the Time Line Table.
