Dr. Kambiz Pourrezaei is a founding member and co-director of the
Nanotechnology Institute (NTI) and professor of biomedical engineering
in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, Health Systems at
Drexel University. Dr. Pourrezaei, along with Dr. David Luzzi of the
University of Pennsylvania and Dr. Barry Stein of the Ben Franklin
Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, received in the fall
of 2002 a $10.5 million grant from the State of Pennsylvania to
establish a regional Nanotechnology Center. From this collaboration was
born the Nanotechnology Institute (NTI), whose mission is to
focus on the transfer of discoveries and intellectual knowledge in the
area of nanotechnology from universities to industry partners and on
the rapid application and commercialization of this technology to
stimulate economic growth.
